Planning for Their Futures

For the benefit of its consumers, CLC Supplemental Needs Pooled Trust was established in 1996 to enable CLC clients and/or their loved ones to set aside monies for supplemental needs without losing government benefits, such as Medicaid and SSI. Five years later, trust participation was opened to non-CLC consumers.  The CLC Supplemental Needs Pooled Trust is sponsored and managed by the CLC Foundation, Inc. a not-for-profit agency affiliated with the CLC organization and headquartered in Mount Kisco, NY.

 

With the extended life expectancies that disabled individuals can now look forward to, planning for their futures has become a critical and immediate need. Therefore, families and loved ones of people with disabilities must plan today for needs that will arise next week, next month and in years to come.

A CLC Supplemental Needs Pooled Trust can be established to provide for participants' current and future needs without jeopardizing their eligibility for government benefits such as Medicaid and Supplemental Social Security (SSI). CLC trusts enable participants living with a disabilities to maintain eligibility for government benefits and still set aside monies in a Trust to pay for their own supplemental needs.

Funds deposited in either of the two types of CLC trusts are available to participants to pay for items not covered by Medicaid or SSI such as vacations, clothing, certain medical expenses, and other extras that enhance their quality of life. (For a more complete list of eligible items, see FAQs.)
